History
First Edition
During the 4th, 5th and 6th of August of year 2000, the first National
Journals of Free Software where placed in Rosario, Santa Fe
(Argentina), organized by Rosario GNU/Linux User Group and New
Tecnologies Asociation.
In this event we had the prestigious visit of Richard M. Stallman
(Founder of Free Software Fundation and GNU project) by first time in
Latin America
This Journals where quickly spread among like one of the best on their
type in south america, because of diversity of subjects (30 subjects
in 3 days) and because of the GNU Spirit that was on the air (in the
first Journals that was spoken not only about GNU/linux, but Free
Software as a representative success). Many diferent groups took place
in the year 2000 Journal (groups from Venezuela, Uruguay, Peru, Brazil
and Local where present) This made the Journals to feel like they
where not only part of those who organized it, but also from the
people that went to them.
Second Edition
Continuing with what has been done in Rosario on year 2000, the UYLUG
makes the 2nd Regional Free Software Journal.
Third Edition
The third Regional Free Software Journal took place on days 17, 18 and
19 of October on year 2002 on "Facultad de Ciencias de la Universidad
de la Republica". Between the principal participants we had the
presence of John Hall (Presiden of Linux International) and Larry Wall
(Creator of Perl Language)
The program included the most diverse subjects about using free
software, as well as the benefits obtained using Free Tecnologies. We
had a space to discuss and reflect, in which present time was the
subject, for example the need to adopt Open Tecnologies in Public
Administration.
Fourth Edition
This Edition was, again, organized by the UYLUG in November of 2003.
Fifth Edition
